- a confidential and thorough discussion with the
partner candidate to gather critical information,
including: the nature of the candidate’s practice;
the reasons for considering a move; the desired
criteria in an acquiring firm; the resources needed
to support the candidate and practice; and relevant
financial data (e.g., size of portable business,
hourly rates, yearly billables, compensation requirements,
etc.);
- based on the information gathered from the candidate,
conducting thorough research of the relevant legal
market and making anonymous inquiries (without identifying
the candidate in any way) to arrive at a complete
list of prospective firms for the candidate or group
to consider;
- with the candidate’s express permission
only, making discreet inquiries with the appropriate
partners at prospective firms to gauge their interest
in the candidate or group;
- when mutual interest exists between the candidate(s)
and firm, we arrange and coordinate meetings, serve
as liaison for the exchange of feedback and other
critical information, and upon request will help
troubleshoot and facilitate the negotiation process
between the candidate and the firm.
